Privacy Statement

Who this statement covers

This statement explains how Softblue, an Auckland-based, founder-led website and web application development studio, handles personal information collected through this website. It applies to the contact form and to website analytics.

This is an explanation of our current practice, not a legal opinion. It is written to meet the notice expectations of the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020, but we do not claim compliance with any other jurisdiction's privacy law.

Information you provide through our contact form

When you submit an enquiry, we collect the information you enter. On the contact page this is your name, email address and project details, and optionally your company or website, budget range and timeframe. On the Website Improvement Sprint page, your website address is also required, and business name and desired timing are optional. This information is sent directly to our form processor, Formspree (opens in a new tab), and forwarded to us by email.

Each submission also records which page and enquiry form it was sent from. If you arrived at the Website Improvement Sprint page through a campaign link, the standard campaign labels from that link's address (such as utm_source) are included with your enquiry so we know which campaign it came from. These labels are part of the form submission itself, so they are sent to Formspree with your enquiry regardless of your analytics choice. They contain no additional personal information.

Providing this information is voluntary, but the required fields are needed for us to respond. If you leave a required field blank, we may be unable to reply to your enquiry.

Website analytics

When you visit this site, Google Analytics 4 collects aggregate information about how people use it: pages viewed, how you arrived (including campaign and social links), meaningful Contact and email-link interactions, confirmed contact-form completion, approximate location derived from IP address, and device and browser type. We do not enable advertising features, Google Signals, or any form of cross-site user tracking, and we do not attach your name, email address or enquiry content to this information.

Analytics runs unless you decline it. A notice is shown on your first visit so you can accept or decline. If you ignore the notice, analytics continues. If you decline, we stop future collection and clear known analytics cookies on this site.

How we use this information

We use contact form information to review, respond to and manage your enquiry, and to keep a record of that conversation. We use analytics information, in aggregate, to understand which pages, campaigns and content are useful and to improve the site. We do not use either for automated decision-making or advertising.

Formspree processes and delivers contact form submissions to us.
Google Analytics processes aggregate website usage information, unless you decline analytics.
Cloudflare hosts this website and provides security and performance services for all visitors, including standard request-level technical logs.
If Cloudflare Turnstile spam protection is active on the contact form, Cloudflare also processes limited technical information to confirm a submission is not automated.

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share contact form details with analytics or advertising services.

Overseas data processing

Formspree, Google Analytics and Cloudflare are international service providers and may process information on servers outside New Zealand. We choose established providers and rely on their published security and privacy practices, but we do not represent that all information is stored only in New Zealand.

Security

We take reasonable steps to protect information handled through this website, including using established, reputable service providers and encrypted connections. No online service can guarantee absolute security, and we cannot promise information will never be accessed, disclosed or lost without authorisation.

How long we keep information

We keep contact form enquiries for as long as reasonably needed to respond to you and to maintain a record of the conversation, and delete or de-identify older enquiries when they are no longer needed. We intend to configure a limited retention period for analytics data in Google Analytics rather than indefinite storage; this is a manual setup step we have not yet completed, and we will update this statement once it is confirmed.

Your rights

Under the Privacy Act 2020, you can ask us what personal information we hold about you and ask us to correct it if it is wrong. To make a request, contact us using the details below.

Your analytics choice

The first time you visit, a notice lets you accept or decline analytics cookies. Analytics runs until you decline. You can change that choice at any time from this page or the footer. Declining stops future collection and clears known analytics cookies on this site, but it cannot recall information already sent to Google.
